Stella here! It’s Social Media week! Bring it!

This week, we’re going to talk about the benefits and pitfalls of a social media presence. Today, I’m going to cover the basics.

First (and last), hire a professional. Seriously. You may be great at real estate, lawyering, restauranting (I’m basically making up words here), etc., but being an exceptional publicist takes training, experience and a professional temperament.

The thing with social media is, we all do it. Every day. Many times a day. So, it seems easy. It is easy when you’re sharing a photo of the family at the pumpkin patch and your favorite weekend cocktail. But, just as watching HGTV’s Fixer Upper every day doesn’t make me an interior designer and watching Judge Judy doesn’t make me a lawyer, posting on Social Media does not make you a Public Relations specialist.

Most importantly, you want to know your Social Media presence is reaching the right audience, is resulting in measurable, positive results and remains relevant and interesting.

When choosing a PR specialist, make sure they’re delivering a report to you each month which clearly shows your platform statistics, where changes should be made and what facets are successful and should be continued or replicated elsewhere. It’s not enough to simply post and go...anyone can do that.

Your social media presence is your global presence. Make sure you’re getting what you pay for. #eleven07main #socialmedia #facebook #twitter #instagram #pinterest #snapchat #linkedin #youtube #publicrelations
